OmniAir To Work Cooperatively with Connected Vehicle Trade Association

The OmniAir Consortium, Washington, DC, has agreed to work with the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA), based in Plymouth, MI to jointly develop and provide 5.9GHz DSRC certification services at the Center for Automotive Research's (CAR) “Connected Vehicle Proving Center” (CVPC). The CVPC was made possible by a grant from the state of Michigan. Together, the associations expect to play a pivotal role in advancing the USDOT's Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Program through this direct service to the global automotive community. The CVPC will be available to public and private entities as a reference environment for product evaluation and qualification within this realm. Over time, the center will evolve into a certification / validation laboratory.

OmniAir VII Tolling Concept of Operations WebEx Attracts 75 Participants

The June 29th USDOT-OmniAir VII Tolling ConOps WebEx and teleconference marked the third event in a year-long project to identify the elements of future VII-based tolling and payment services. The event drew over 70 subject matter experts. Operators, integrators, concessionaires and others on the 'infrastructure' side of VII joined representatives from the auto and financial sector to discuss the business and operational requirements of VII, or 5.9GHz DSRC-based, vehicle-to-roadside payment systems. A ConOps looks beyond the lane-level hardware standards and even the application interface specifications needed for an interoperable service.
