OmniAir To Work Cooperatively with Connected Vehicle Trade Association

The OmniAir Consortium, Washington, DC, has agreed to work with the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA), based in Plymouth, MI to jointly develop and provide 5.9GHz DSRC certification services at the Center for Automotive Research's (CAR) “Connected Vehicle Proving Center” (CVPC). The CVPC was made possible by a grant from the state of Michigan. Together, the associations expect to play a pivotal role in advancing the USDOT's Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Program through this direct service to the global automotive community. The CVPC will be available to public and private entities as a reference environment for product evaluation and qualification within this realm. Over time, the center will evolve into a certification / validation laboratory.

This cooperative effort benefits both organizations and their constituents. The inclusion of OmniAir's 5.9GHz DSRC Certification Suite is natural complement that adds to the range of services the CVPC is expected to provide as it evolves into a valuable resource for a wide-range of organizations with interests in vehicle communications, vehicle telematics and intelligent transportation systems. For OmniAir, the CVPC offers an means to directly serve the automotive element of VII while retaining its independence as a certifying organization in terms of how and where it certifies, and in the strategic development of it's program.
